Why bother: December has many of us transplants longing for the places we first called home. With that in mind, Shipley & Halmos teamed up with D.S. & Durga on a fragrance called “CO/FL (Colorado/Florida) Coach Purses,” to evoke where they grew up. After the foursome met at a party and discovered common interests, Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos visited D.S. & Durga’s studio. “And next thing we knew, we were testing all types of smells and talking about influences for a scent,” Halmos said. “It all developed very organically, which I feel makes for the best collaboration.” Looking for references to Colorado’s rocky terrain and Florida’s warm Coach Purses, briny waters, Durga’s David Moltz said he “searched for things that linked the two. We came up with a few pine species and suntan lotion Coach Purses, to represent skiing and sunbathing.” While the hand-blended limited-edition fragrance (only 99 bottles were made) is being unveiled tonight at Bird in time for the holidays, it wears like a scent for all seasons.
