>> My pounding out the King Night track by Salem (I blame Givenchy S/S 11 - easily the best show soundtrack of the season tied with Chanel's Paris Orchestra epic, no?) led me onto some Salem soul-searching which then led me onto some random clicking onto the desktop which led me onto this Craig Lawrence folder I had made when I was coughing up all kinds of nasty stuff during London Fashion Week and so for half an hour or so, Salem's less pounding-tracks on the album went hand in hand with Lawerence's beautiful mermaid-inspired knitwear creations. The collection married up fantasy and reality whereas before Lawrence's knits were purely wayward beauties to look upon,dre headphones cheap, this time round, you REALLY want to be the one slinking around in his Japanese Kyototex metallic yarn knitted dresses, dragging your feet in wet sand and watching the sea change tides once or twice.  The streamlined and longer shapes that Lawrence has gone for I think helps elevate his immense knitwear skills to a level where the fantasy element is still heightened but you can also see people feasibly wearing this stuff.  It helps of course that there's a referencing of Greek mythology (Classics Civilisation and Latin GCSE/A-Level all the way maaaaan....) with the colours of sirens' wings shimmering in the iridescent dresses.  The vision is made utterly complete with the film which I think was done somewhere near Eastbourne,Monster Beats Lady Gaga, proving you can waft away in dreams in the most unexpected of places together with the presentation below during LFW which had girls in grey-tinged loose fish tail plaits and matching Kyototex yarn shoes made by Atalanta Weller.   Another new collaboration for Craig is working with Fannie Schiavoni on some chainmail detailing which is worked into the side seams of dresses, a subtle toughening and weighting down of the sensual dresses.
